Autumn Pearmain is an ancient apple, first recorded in the UK in 1629. It may also be known as Hereford Permain.
Autumn Permain is a dessert apple and the trees are moderately vigorous and described as tip bearing although will also form spurs. The variety is self- sterile but would benefit from having other pollinating varieties from Group 4.
The apples can be picked in September and will keep until November. The apple is medium size, dull green changing to yellow, with red stripes and a dark red blush on the sun exposed face. A russet network is spread across the fruit. The flesh is cream coloured and fine grained and has a slightly sweet, nutty flavour.
